Abstract
Objective: The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate the use of a clinically available perichondrium graft as an adjunct to surgical tendon repair.\r\nMethods: Eight male New Zealand white rabbits of similar height and weight were used in this study. The left and right Achilles tendons were used as the experimental and control group, respectively. Perichondrium grafts were harvested from the right ears of the rabbits. Both Achilles tendons were clearly cut and repaired. After the repair, the perichondrium graft was wrapped around the tendon repair sites of the left Achilles tendons. Rabbits were sacrificed after six weeks and the tendons were examined macroscopically and histopathologically.\r\nResults: Macroscopically and histopathologically, less adhesion occurred when the perichondrium graft was wrapped around the tendon repair site compared to the control group. \r\nConclusion: Perichondrium graft may isolate the repaired tendon and may reduce scar formation and adhesions during the healing period.

Amaç: Çalışmamızda, perikondrium greftinin tendon onarımı sonrası yapışıklıkları önlemedeki etkinliğini değerlendirmeyi amaçladık.\r\nÇalışma planı: Bu çalışmada 8 erkek, beyaz Yeni Zelanda tavşanı kullanıldı. Her bir tavşanın sol Aşil tendonu deney grubunu, sağ Aşil tendonu ise kontrol grubunu oluşturdu. Deney grubunda kullanılan perikondrium greftleri ise tavşanların sağ kulaklarından elde edildi. Tavşanların her iki Aşil tendonları kesilip onarıldı. Onarım sonrası, sol Aşil tendonu onarım sahası perikondrium grefti ile sarıldı. Altıncı haftanın sonunda hayvanlar sakrifiye edilerek tendonlar makroskopik ve histopatolojik olarak incelendi.\r\nBulgular: Perikondrium grefti sarılan tendon onarımı sahasında makroskopik ve histopatolojik olarak kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırıldığında daha az yapışıklık gözlendi.\r\nÇıkarımlar: Perikondrium grefti onarılan tendonu izole ederek iyileşme sürecinde nedbe oluşumunu ve olası yapışıklıkları azaltabilir.
