Abstract
Objectives: We evaluated the results of conservative treatment with the use of U-splints in patients with humeral shaft fractures.\nMethods: The study included 34 patients who were treated conservatively (U-splints) for humeral shaft fractures. Twenty-six patients were males, eight patients were females. The mean age was 32 years (range 9 to 85 years). The fractures were transverse in 16 patients, oblique in nine, comminuted in five, segmental in two, and spiral in two patients. The follow-up period was at least six months.\nResults: Union in the desired position was achieved in 31 patients (91.2%). The mean duration for union was 3.6 months (range 1.5-7 months). \nConclusion: We concluded that the use of U-splints is a successful method in the conservative treatment of humeral shaft fractures

Amaç: U-ateli ile konservatif olarak tedavi edilen humerus cisim kırıklı olgularda tedavi sonuçları değerlendirildi.\nÇalışma planı: Çalışmaya U-ateli ile konservatif tedavi ettiğimiz humerus cisim kırıklı 34 hasta alındı. Yirmi altı hasta erkek, sekiz hasta kadındı. Ortalama yaş 32 (dağılım 9-85) idi. Kırık tipi 16 olguda transvers, dokuz olguda oblik, beş olguda çok parçalı, iki olguda segmenter ve iki olguda spiral idi. Hastalar en az altı ay süreyle takip edildi.\nSonuçlar: Arzu edilen pozisyonda kaynama 31 olguda (%91.2) sağlandı. Ortalama kaynama süresi 3.6 ay (dağılım 1.5-7 ay) idi. \nÇıkarımlar: Humerus cisim kırıklarının konservatif tedavisinde U-ateli uygulamasının başarılı bir yöntem olduğu sonucuna varıldı.
