Abstract
Synovectomy was performed on 14 cases with Rheumatoid Arthritis in the department of orthopaedics and traumatology in the Medical School of the İstanbul University between 1979-1982. Our patients, whose ages ranged between 32 and 65 year followed up for an average of 2.7 years, in 9 out of tnese cases synovectomy was applied at the early stage and satisfactory results were obtained in all. In 5, however, there we bony alterations, though minimal. Healing was observed not only in the joint on which synovectomy was applied but also in all the systemic findings in cases from which satisfactory results were obtained.
