Abstract

Kiloh-Nevin syndrome is the functional deficiency of the anterior interosseous nerve caused by direct and indirect lesions of forearm. At erlangen University Medical Faculty, Departmens of hand surgery and neurology eleven patients from l983 to l990 were diagnosed to have this syndrome and were treated. In five patients the nevre was explored and treated surgically; postoperative splint was applied for two weeks, then the patients were referred for physical rehabilitation. Electromyographic examinations were repeated at 3rd, 6th and 9th months postoperatively. The remaning six patients were treated by conservative measures. Pathological aspets of the syndrome and the principles in diagnoses and treatment are discussed along wjith the other papers published in the literature.
