Four cases of complex dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb are presented. Peculiar anatomy of this dislocation which prevents reduction by closed methods and requires open reduction is studied. Two of our cases were recent dislocations, the motion of the thumb returned to its normal after open reduction. Other two of our cases were late, unreduced dislocations (6 months, 1 year) arthrodesis of the M-P joint had to be carried out.

Baş parmağın metacarpophalangeal oynağında dislokasyon olan dört vaka takdim edildi. Bu dislokasyonun kapalı redüksiyonunu imkansız kılan anatomik özellikler üzerinde duruldu, ameliyatla redüksİyon yapmanın gerekli olduğu belirtildi. Takdim edilen vak$atardan ikisi yeni dislokasyonlar oldukları için ameliyatla redüksiyondan sonra baş parmağın hareketleri normale döndü. Eski dislokasyon olan %6 ay ve 1 yıl diğer iki vak$ada redüksi;yondan sonra baş parmağın M;P oynağında fonksiyonel durum;da artrodez yapıldı.
