Abstract
Fifteen patients were performed triple arthrodesis between 1983 and 1989 in Orthopaedic and Traumatology Department of Karadeniz Technical University Hospital, Eleven patients returned for clinical review, two of whom had had bilateral operation, giving a total of thirteen triple arthrodesis. At review, all clinical and radiological examinations were carried out. Degenerative joint changes in the ankle and midfoot also pseudoarthrosis, avascular necrosis of the talus and residual deformities were examined. Two of feet had undergone further operation for recurrent deformity. The average age at the time of primary operation in these patients was lower than in the rest. Two patients were performed ipsilateral tibial Iengthening before triple arthrodesis. We think that, lengthening of ipsilateral leg increased the risk of avascular necrosis of the talus.
